Hello,

I was raised in Neckargartach, Heilbronn & left for Canada in 1956, on the 'SEVEN SEAS.'

We were Polish DPs & lived in GI barracks.

I have never been back & am searching for photo's of that area.

I am trying to locate a John F Smith & Family birthplace in Germnay. We believe his name was Johann Frederich Schmidt. Born Aug 4 1843 Married Johanna Ottilie Stelzer from Storchnest Area Posen Prussia Germany. They had 3 children born in Germany. Gustine (Augusta) 1872 we think Berlin, Franz (Frank) 1875 unk. Paul 1877 either Berlin or Frankfurt/Oder.John was in the Franco Prussia war as a calvaryman.Came to America in 1882 according to 1900 census wife in 1885, children either 1882 or 1885.We have all records of Johns wife but nothing of John Birthplace, marriage etc unknown. Sorry i forgot some information; Hans Peter was born around 1715 give or take a couple of years. He was 22 when he came to America aboard the Charming Nancy when he arrived in Philadelphia PA USA on October 8, 1737.

Bernhard was born in 1730 and came to America aboard the Patience in 1748 when he was 18 years old married and raised his family here. He died in 1779 from a wound he received in the American Revolutionary War.

Hi. My daughter is taking German in her 6th grade class. They have several questions that they can earn extra credit for. We have been able to locate most of the answers but there are 2 that we can't find. The first is: when setting a German table where do the spoons go and the 2nd is what city holds the Morzart festival every year.(we did find this but it had several cities listed so we are not sure).
